So, it's been pretty quiet around here lately. Yeah, turns out our last post was a bit premonitory. In that post I said we weren't dead that that we were a band even! Turns out, not so much. At least for the moment anyways.
Back in November, shortly after our last gig at the Terminal Bar, our bass player decided to hang it up. He lives way down in Chaska or Chanhassan or someplace down on the southwest corner of Minneapolis and we practice up in Coon Rapids. So it was getting to be too much work/driving and not enough having fun/jamming for Mark. Anyways, we don't blame him. Life is a pain in the ass sometimes. We appreciate him hanging with us for as long as he did and we wish him the best. He's a great bass player and a great guy (a pretty rare combination indeed!).
So, Dave, Corey and I are still around but are not actively seeking a new bass player. If something or someone great happens to fall into our laps, we might kick it up again, but for now, we're just winging it. It's quite possible that there will be some cover gigs here and there (my wife intends to walk 60 miles for boobs again this summer and has informed me I better get a band together for the annual summertime fund raiser). So, hopefully I can convince some bass player somewhere to at least jam with us every once in a while!
Anyways, we'll keep you posted and we'll keep this site here to let you know if/when anything changes or if we throw together any gigs. We appreciate all you crazy mf'ers who came out to support us along the way!

It's coming, our second and final Saving Second Base show of the year. That's right, it's right around the corner. We gave you plenty of warning so I hope you cleared your calendar because we're going to blow the roof off the Finish Line in Princeton on Saturday August 15th. How's that for a sales pitch? Sorry, I can't do the monster truck announcer voice via blog post.
Our last show was a huge success. In addition, The Deadwoods managed to learn and play a bunch of new cover tunes along with a pile of classics, we threw in a sprinkling of Deadwoods tunes and even managed to pull a handful of songs out of our ass on the night of the show and we discovered that makes a pretty damn good recipe! So, we're going to mix it all up and bring it all back again.
We do these shows because as I pointed out in our last post about boobs, my wife, my sister and my sister-in-law will be walking 60 miles in August in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. And as part of this, they each must raise large amounts of cash to help research breast cancer treatments. Crazy? Yes. But that's why we love them... and support them... and their boobs! So come out and support a very good cause and enjoy a very good time!
Anyways, here are the details:
The Deadwoods
Saturday, August 15th @ 8pm till close
$10 cover (all proceeds go to the cause)
The Finish Line
31924 125th street
Princeton, MN 55371

So, our first Save Second Base show of the summer is in the books. This turned out to be one hell of a good show and an equally good time. We had lots of our up north friends and family come out as well as a few hardcore friends from the cities drive all the way up (Elvis never leaves this building!).
Playing cover tunes can be a lot of fun when you get it done right and it was fun since there was a fair amount of new stuff that we pulled out this time around. Even played a handful of tunes that night that we've never played, ever, and they didn't even suck! That's saying something, not sure what, but something. There was also a very good response to the Deadwoods original tunes we threw in there, so we're starting to feel pretty good about this whole Deadwoods thing.
Anywho, thanks to everybody who came out and pitched in. The event raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,000 which is more than what was expected and comes very close to closing the deal for my wife, her sister and the other 3-day walkers involved. Not that that will stop us, we're still on the hook for the show in Princeton on August 15th. Keep that date open, you don't want to miss this!
Also, we posted a few photos from the show up on the Deadwoods Facebook Fan page. Go check em out. Someday I'll figure out a better way to display pictures right here on our site, but for now we'll take advantage of Facebook.

Ok, so maybe we haven't gotten our music on the radio just yet, but at least we got our name on the radio!
Here is a radio advertisement for our upcoming show in Bemidji at Lazy Jack's this weekend. Pretty cool stuff:
Or you can just download the mp3 file if the thingy above don't work: Lazy Jack's Ad (mp3)
